Court and agency docket

Named proceedings that were public as of 15 August 2026 — cases in court, regulator files that can go to court, and statutes that would create new takedown powers. This is not a live court feed. Each card shows the last public date we have.

TSE 2026 election — recommendation-system exclusion

Tribunal Superior Eleitoral (electoral law + open-source filter)

Brazilian electoral law requires recommendation systems to exclude channels reported to the Electoral Court. X implemented this as Brazil2026ElectionFilter in the public For You code on 14 August 2026. TSE has also been pushing broader 2026 platform-compliance plans.

At stake

For You visibility of ~665 TSE-listed candidate accounts unless the viewer already follows them.

Outcome. Ban lifted after X complied. Access is open again.

TSE 2026 candidate For You filter

The only government-required filter currently published in the open-source For You algorithm. It removes posts from about 665 TSE-listed 2026 candidate accounts unless the viewer follows them. It is not a site-wide ban and is not a public list of every withheld post.

Not allowed

For You does not recommend posts from ~665 accounts reported to Brazil’s Electoral Court for the 2026 election.

Still allowed

Following those accounts still surfaces their posts. Following timelines, Search, and paid boosting are outside this filter. All other accounts are unaffected by it.

Exception. Viewers who already follow the account still see those posts. Paid boosting is carved out in the cited electoral-law text.

Basis: Brazilian electoral law — application providers that use a recommendation system must exclude channels and profiles reported to the Electoral Court (TSE), except paid boosting.

Nationwide block (lifted)

X was blocked in Brazil from 30 August to 8 October 2024 after a Supreme Court order over a local legal representative and prior TSE takedown fights. Access was restored after compliance and fines.

Not allowed

The entire service was unreachable inside Brazil during the block.

Still allowed

Service is available again. The remaining live restriction is the 2026 election recommendation filter.
